Avid birder and 2020-2022 CPF Board President, Jim Steinberg, observed four bobolink nesting sites in the meadow at CPF’s Burlingame Road property during the 2021 breeding season. Noting the presence of the birds, CPF worked with the neighboring farmer to delay mowing until mid-August when the birds had fledged in accordance with NYS DEC’s guidance for managing habitat for meadow-nesting bird species. We were pleased to see the bobolinks back again last year.
Wondering where the bobolinks are nesting this year? Join Jim on Saturday June 17, 2023 at 8:30AM at the Burlingame Trail Parking area on Burlingame Road for a guided birdwalk to identify the locations of 2023 bobolink nesting sites in the Burlingame field, part of CPF’s Summer 2023 Walks ‘n Talks Birding Series.
Directions: From Cazenovia, take Rt. 13 south, turn RIGHT onto Burlingame Road (0.75 miles south of Meier’s Creek Brewing). Proceed 0.7 miles to the trail parking area on the right.
