Gorge Trail Gateway Fundraising Campaign

Architectural plan of Gorge Trail Gateway Project

In July 2024, the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation (CPF) began construction on an exciting new project. The Gorge Trail Gateway will provide residents and visitors with a welcoming entrance to area trails in the heart of the Village. The planned design will revitalize the greenspace alongside Chittenango Creek to the right of Buyea’s True Value Hardware store parking area on Albany Street. The project’s prominent location will also help attract customers to local businesses.

CPF began fundraising for the Gorge Trail Gateway project in 2022. Since then, CPF has secured funding through: a grant from the Central New York Community Foundation’s Dr. Robert J. Viktus Fund; a grant from the Finger Lakes – Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance; a private memorial gift; the Wetzel Cazenovia Area Community Development Association Fund at the Central New York Community Foundation; and gifts from current and former CPF board members.

A recent community fundraising campaign for the Gorge Trail Gateway project concluded on September 30, 2024. Gifts given after this date will be used for ongoing conservation and land stewardship work. Donations of any amount are welcome and appreciated.
