CPF is excited to launch this multi-year plan ensuring the protection and management of conserved resources in perpetuity.

In June, the Board of Directors adopted a new Strategic Organizational Plan—a roadmap that defines our future goals and sets priorities for the next five years. The plan was the culmination of an eight-month process guided by CPF’s Strategic Planning Steering Committee, facilitated by Sara Wall Bollinger of SWB Consulting, and funded by a grant from the New York State Conservation Partnership Program.*

The plan lays out strategic objectives for the next operational period:

Connect—Continue to extend outreach, education and communication to a more diverse audience and enhance relationships with the general public, partners, municipalities, and educational institutions.

Grow—Increase the number of acres and historical architectural resources under CPF’s protection in alignment with the strategic land conservation plan, while remaining agile with regard to opportunities, and balancing growth with capacity.

Steward—Continue to build capacity and expertise to proactively manage CPF-owned lands and engage with conservation easement owners on the management of their protected lands.

Sustain—Build financial reserves to guarantee that CPF has adequate resources to meet its responsibility for preservation and conservation in perpetuity.

This fall, CPF will finalize an implementation strategy to prioritize tasks to be completed each year and identify the needed resources. CPF will review the plan’s progress during the Annual Meeting each May.

* The New York State Conservation Partnership Program is administered by the Land Trust Alliance, in coordination with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
