Gorge Trail Gateway Grand Opening Celebration

Join us for a day of celebration and adventure as we unveil Nature on Main Street at the new Gorge Trail Gateway! This exciting new entrance connects the heart of Cazenovia to miles of scenic trails, offering easy access to the beauty of nature right from the village. This event is free and open to the public.

Special Bonus! The first 50 attendees will get a Meier's Creek Brewing Company buy-one/get-one draft beer coupon. You can even head over to their Oktoberfest later in the day.

Event Schedule:

  • 10 am: Stream Invertebrate workshop—Join experts from the Izaak Walton League to discover the fascinating world of stream invertebrates, what they tell us about our environment, and why fly fisherman design their flies the way they do.

  • 10:30-noon: Lehigh Valley Depot & Caboose Open House—Step back in time with a guided tour of Cazenovia’s historic train depot and caboose.

  • 11 am: Fly Tying and Fly Fishing Demos—Learn tips and tricks from seasoned anglers from the Madison County Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and ask the pros your fly tying and fly fishing questions.

  • 11 am: Food and Beverages—Savor delicious eats from Funk ‘n Waffles, with both sweet and savory options, and Dad’s Ice Cream, a local classic that offers something for everyone. Plus, H. Grey Supply Co. will be selling coffee, tea, and a signature beverage celebrating the new trail gateway!

  • 11:30 am: Live Music—Enjoy a performance from Flamingo Hotel featuring Jonah Ladd.

  • 12:30 pm: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony—Be there to witness the official opening of the Gateway.

  • 1-2 pm: History Hike —Explore the trails with Madison County Historian Matt Urtz who will share the history of original industries along Chittenango Creek.

  • 1-2:30 pm: Lehigh Valley Depot & Caboose Open House—Another chance to step back in time and explore Cazenovia’s historic train depot and caboose.

  • 2-3 pm: Poetry on the Trail—Come for a guided walk along the Gorge Trail and read local poets’ original compositions on “exploration.” These poems will be on exhibition through Thanksgiving.
