On Saturday, June 1, CPF will celebrate National Trails Day with the dedication of several of our new kiosks. We invite you to join us for guided hikes on our trails throughout the day. At 4 p.m., we’ll gather at Meier’s Creek Brewing Company to swap trail stories and enjoy a buy-one-get-one draft special for participants.
Schedule of Events
Hike 1 - Gorge Trail
Start time: 9:00 a.m.
Description: Join CPF Executive Director, Jen Wong for an out-and-back hike on the CPF Gorge Trail, formerly the Lehigh Valley Railroad bed, which runs north from Cazenovia along Chittenango Creek.
Distance: 4 miles; Easy; Flat Gravel Trail
Location: Gorge Trail Clark Street Entrance
Parking: Clark Street Parking Area
Hike 2- Fairchild Hill – Main
Start time: 1:00 p.m.
Description: Join us for the dedication of the Fairchild Hill Kiosk sponsored by Knowles Precision Devices in memory of Kirk Wardell followed by a 1.25 mile hike up Fairchild Hill to enjoy the views.
Distance: 1.25 miles; Moderate; Grass/Gravel Path
Location: Fairchild Hill Trail Parking area at the intersection of Rt. 20 & Rt. 92
Parking: Please park ONLY in the dedicated Fairchild Hill Trail Parking Area. If that lot is full, parking is available at Lorenzo State Historic Site or Meier’s Creek Brewing Company; the trail system connects through Lorenzo State Historic Site.
Hike 3 - Fairchild Connector
Start time: 2:00 p.m.
Description: Join us for the dedication of the Fairchild Connector Kiosk sponsored by Chuck and Gyata Stormon in memory of John C. Stormon followed by a 1-mile hike up Fairchild Hill to enjoy the views. We’ll plan a brief side detour to the waterfall on the Upper Fairchild Loop and talk about an ongoing trail connectivity project.
Distance: 1 mile; Moderate; Grass/Gravel Path, some off-trail
Location: Base of Fairchild Hill at the Lorenzo Connector Trail
Parking: Please park ONLY in the dedicated Fairchild Hill Trail Parking Area. If that lot is full, parking is available at Lorenzo State Historic Site or Meier’s Creek Brewing Company; the trail system connects through Lorenzo State Historic Site.
Hike 4 – Burlingame Trails
Start time: 3:00 p.m.
Description: Join us for the dedication of the Burlingame Kiosk sponsored by Rockbridge Investment Management, LLC followed by a hike along the Burlingame Gateway Trail to Meier’s Creek Brewing Company to enjoy some refreshments. Participants can partner up with a friend to stage one car at Meier’s Creek for the return trip, or join us for an early evening walk back to the Burlingame parking area.
Distance: 2 miles (one-way); Moderate; Gravel/Dirt Trails; Woodlands)
Location: Burlingame Road Trail Parking Area
Parking: Trail parking lot on right-hand side of Burlingame Road, approximately 0.75 mile west of the intersection with Rt. 13 (Rippleton Road).
Happy Hour at Meier’s Creek
Start time: 4 p.m.
Location: Meier’ Creek Brewing Co., 33 Rippleton Road, Cazenovia, NY
